After much speculation, Disney has announced Treasure will be the name of its newest ship to join the Disney Cruise Line (DCL) fleet.

The Disney Treasure is expected to debut in 2024, according to news revealed during the D23 Expo: the ultimate Disney fan event.

This will be the sixth ship to join Disney’s lineup following the successful rollout of the Disney Wish. The Wish, which set sail in 2023, is the first ship built for DCL in nearly a decade, according to Cruise Industry News.

A Celebration Of Africa And Asia

If you’re familiar with Disney cruises, you know that everything has a theme. For The Treasure, Disney is planning to use influences from Asia and Africa as the atrium will take passengers through the land of Agrabah. For you ’90s kids, this means, yes, prepare to step into the place where the movie Aladdin takes place.

You’re probably wondering about the magic carpet. You can expect that, too!

All Disney cruise ships have a signature atrium character statue. For the Treasure, you can expect a stunning sculpture of Aladdin, Princess Jasmine, and the Magic Carpet to pay homage to the whole new world adventure, according to Disney.

“As the world’s greatest storytellers, I’m thrilled to share the new and innovative ways we are bringing next-generation Disney magic to life across Disney parks and experiences,” said Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products.

What You Should Know About The Disney Treasure

One thing that makes Disney Treasure different than any other ship is that the experience will focus on adventure. In fact, adventure is the theme.

“At the heart of every adventure, there’s a treasure, and we can’t wait for you to create memories aboard this spectacular ship,” said D’Amaro.

Even though all the intricate details have not been released, we do know that Disney Treasure will reportedly feature roughly 1,250 guest staterooms.

The Disney Treasure is one of three ships of Disney’s Triton-class ships.  Wish is the first, the Treasure is second, and now we wait for the name of the third name, which is expected to set sail in 2025.
