For the seventh year in a row, Cape Town has been voted the best city in the world by Telegraph readers.
The Telegraph Travel Awards surveyed over 39,000 readers and they voted the South African city as being the best city.
Cape Town has been experiencing low water supplies because of a drought for the past few years but Telegraph says, “We’ll put up with the occasional discomfort for the sheer joy of waking up with real, natural beauty.”
The Telegraph shares why Cape Town was voted the best city in the world:
-Visiting Boulder’s beach and seeing penguins wandering around
-Spending a day in the Winelands, tasting and learning about wine
-Heading to the V&A Waterfront where you can wander around, shop and find great food
-Experiencing the southernmost point of Africa at Cape Point
-Getting your nature fix at Kirstenbosch gardens
-Walking through Bo-Kaap and seeing all of the colorful houses and call to prayer
-Taking a cable car up Table Mountain
The Telegraph also shares another reason why Cape Town is the top city in the world: “The original Khoi inhabitants named the iconic flat-topped massif ‘Hoerikwaggo,’ Mountain of the Sea, and it is precisely this unique geography, towering mountains that drop, at times perpendicularly, into the vast blue, that is so seductive.”
