It should come to no surprise that Ghana is shaping up to be the most popping destination come this December and January.

After Ghana’s President Nana Akufo-Addo announced how 2019 would serve as the “Year of Return,” there has been a plethora of activities to commemorate the 400 year anniversary of the Transatlantic Slave Trade.

With just a few more weeks to go, Ghana’s capital city is gearing up to host the highly anticipated music festival: Afrochella.

Travel Noire reached out to organizers a few months ago to try and get the scoop on who exactly is performing, but event organizers have been rather quiet about dropping any hints or subtle messages.  Travel Noire was told the lineup would be revealed in November.

And while festival spectators patiently await the concert lineup announcement, there are some hints that Beyoncé could be part of what is expected to be a star-studded event and holiday season in Ghana.

Why? Glad you asked.

Last month, a tweet dropped from Beyoncé News that the queen would be celebrating Christmas in Ghana this year with her family “due to projects on Dec. 26.”

Coincidence?

We think not, as Afrochella is slated for Dec. 28 this year.   And with her Lion King inspired album that incorporated Afrobeats and other sounds from the Diaspora, where better to perform Brown Skin Girl than a music festival that celebrates Melanin Magic?

Another artist on our radar: Cardi B.

We highly doubt that she will be in town for Afrochella but we’re not ruling out that she will have something to do with the Year of Return.

The 27-Year-Old-Rapper best known for Bodak Yellow and Money announced on her Instagram that she will be in Africa on Dec. 7 and Dec. 8 for the  Livespot X Festival.
