It was around 2am on Friday morning when the passenger on Mein Schiff 6 fell from deck 10 and onto the lifeboats a few decks below. Although the medical team got there immediately, there was no way to save the passenger from the injuries they had acquired from the fall.

The Mein Schiff 6 which was launched initially in 2017 is part of TUI Cruises and can carry close to 2500 passengers. TUI Cruises is a German cruise company that partnered with the American Royal Caribbean cruises back in 2007. No one is sure about what happened to the guest or what caused the fall. After the incident the cruise ship headed back to Turkey and the investigation was handed to the Turkish police.

A statement by TUI Cruises

A statement has been released by TUI Cruises with the following, “We confirm that a guest on board Mein Schiff 6 died in the night from Thursday to Friday as a result of a fall from his own balcony. Our condolences go out to the family members. The investigation to clarify the cause has been initiated and handed over to the relevant authorities.”

“We ask for your understanding that we will not comment beyond this out of consideration for the bereaved families.”

This isn’t the first time these types of accidents happen on a cruise ship. Some would like to know how these incidents could be prevented in the future.
