In a place with an estimated population of 22 million, there’s no shortage of things to do in Beijing, China.

With a history stretching back to three millennia, there’s a great deal of culture, entertainment and art to absorb during your visit.

For starters, start your trip with a hike up one of the most fascinating man-made landmarks in the world: The Great Wall of China.

Some sections of the Great Wall are now in ruins or have disappeared, but it remains one of the most appealing attractions due to its historical significance and architecture.

In the midst of all its tradition and history, be sure to do some shopping at local markets.

At the Hongqiao Market, visitors can shop for jade, gold, pearls and more, at bargain prices.

The New Silk Alley Market, located in the Chaoyang district, is a market that features nearly 1,700 vendors. Items for sale include silk, electronics, clothing, accessories, and more.
