If you’re trying to plan out your 2021 travel, we found a deal that you may want to add to your list. American Airlines is currently advertising flights from the New York/New Jersey EWR airport to San Juan, Puerto Rico for as low as $76 roundtrip.

While these flights do come with a short layover in Charlotte, it is still worth considering–especially after the pandemic has subsided and to bring tourism dollars to local communities. If you don’t want the layover, you can find nonstop routs on Spirit, JetBlue, and United for around $107 roundtrip.

This deal has dates that span between January and April of 2021. Prior to booking, you should double check American’s (or the airline you choose) cancellation or change policy for flights in your date range. As we continue to move through the pandemic, things can change at any moment so you want to ensure that you are able to at least change your flight date if needed.

You will also want to closely monitor any entry requirements for those traveling to Puerto Rico. As of this post, Americans are able to travel to San Juan for tourism.

San Juan offers something for everyone. Start by walking the cobblestone roads filled with colorful colonial homes in Old San Juan. Snap a picture in front of the mural of the nation’s flag.

Relax at one of the many beautiful beaches and try some watersports. If you are into nature, check out El Yunque rainforest for a hike and impressive waterfalls. You could also do a self-guided tour.

Lastly, be sure to indulge yourself in authentic Puerto Rican cuisine. A must-try dish is Mofongo, a mound of plantains into which seafood, meats, and vegetables are added. Oh, you can’t forget a trip to Casa Bacardi for a some authentic Pina coladas and mojitos.
