Disneyland Paris has come under fire after one of its employees ruined a marriage proposal that was taking place in the park. In a now-viral video recording that was originally posted on Reddit last week, the couple can be seen together on a stage with Sleeping Beauty’s Castle as the perfect romantic backdrop.

A park employee rushes up to the couple as the man is down on one knee presenting the open ring box and popping the question to his then-girlfriend. The employee snatches the ring before urging the couple to follow him off the stage, ruining the beautiful moment.

“She said, ‘yes,’” the man says to the employee, confused.

“Yes, that’s great, but over here will be even better,” the employee responds. Park-goers booed the employee for his actions.

According to the New York Post, the original poster of the video, Reddit user wasgehtlan, says he is friends with the man in the video.

“POS destroyed my best friends (sic) moment. He asked for permission beforehand,” the user wrote.

Many other users agreed that the Disneyland employee was in the wrong for the way he ruined the couples’ proposal. Some chimed in to voice their disapproval.

“Trying to figure out if dude was happier enforcing rules or ruining [the] moment,” one user said. “He was legitimately happier for ruining the moment.”

“If some stranger ran up and snatched a diamond ring out of my hand, more than the moment would be ruined,” said another user.

“Their admission pass didn’t include the $149 optional ‘Proposal Photograph’ fee,” joked another user.

Disney has since issued an apology to the couple for the employee’s actions.

“We regret how this was handled. We have apologized to the couple involved and offered to make it right,” said a Disney spokesperson to Newsweek.
