Do you crave Jamaican food? Peaches Patties on Folsom Street is a catering company headed by executive chef Shani Jones. The name “Peaches” happens to be her mother’s nickname.

You can order in advance and pick it up in store. The jerk chicken comes with rice and peas and plantains. Vegetarian or vegan? There are options, including veggie curry and the impossible beef patties.

Head over to the Museum of The African Diaspora (MOAD) on 3rd Street and Mission.

This may seem random, but how about learning the fundamentals of DJ’ing? Head over to Fingersnaps, a creative space founded by DJ Lamont in the Mission District. You can purchase individual sessions or, if you’re really committed, buy several on the website.

If you’re looking to purchase some street wear, go to Dayfyah, a boutique clothing shop that is proudly Black-owned. There’s apparel for men, women and children.

If you have the energy to go to Oakland or Berkeley, Cupcakin’ Bakery has locations in both.

Patrons rave about the cupcakes, with one person declaring, “the lemon blackberry cupcake will make you slap yo’ mama!”
