Icelandic budget carrier PLAY Airlines is kicking off its U.S. debut with a sale offering extremely low fares to 11 European cities.

The sale is happening now through midnight December 24, and flights officially launch in the spring, departing from Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport beginning April 20, and from Boston Logan International Airport starting May 11.

According to Afar, PLAY will operate service to 22 European destinations, including major cities as well as smaller cities. All flights will connect through Keflavik Airport.

Among the 11 cities that are a part of the sale are London, Paris, Copenhagen, Dublin, Brussels, and Berlin. These one-way flights are available for as little as $109, including taxes and fees, when booked as part of a round trip. Trips can be booked for travel between May and June 2022 and between August and October 2022.

As a no-frills airline, customers can expect to encounter additional fees for seat selection, baggage, in-flight meals, and ticket changes when flying with PLAY. Flights operate on all-economy Airbus A321NEO and A320NEO aircraft, and extras like Wi-Fi and in-flight entertainment are not offered.

Those who have previously flown with Iceland‘s now defunct budget airline Wow Air will find this model very familiar. Many of the people now part of PLAY’s executive team also worked for Wow. In fact, Birgir Jónsson, CEO of PLAY Airlines, was formerly the Deputy CEO of Wow Air. He thinks the model will appeal to American travelers looking to fly for the low.

“Travelers around the world are hungry to venture to new destinations and recent data shows that nearly two thirds of Americans are planning their next vacations with international destinations top of mind,” said Jónsson in a press release. “Travelers can enjoy their destination rather than overspending on the flight to get there.”
