On Thursday, police found a dead body at Frankfurt airport on an inbound flight from Tehran. The body was found in the undercarriage of a Lufthansa plane. Allegedly, employees at the airport found a male’s dead body after routine maintenance checks a 5:30 am local time, reports CNN.

According to a statement sent to CNN by German airline carrier Lufthansa, they confirmed: “We can confirm that during the routine check of a Lufthansa Airbus A340-300 after landing in Frankfurt yesterday, a dead body was discovered in the aircraft’s landing gear bay.

Frankfurt police also stated that the dead body at Frankfurt airport was aside an oxygen can with a mask. Airport workers discovered the dead body non flight LH 601 coming from the Iranian capital city.

What we know:

The statement reveals that investigations are underway to uncover more information about the corpse on the flight. “The responsible authorities are currently on site to investigate the background together with experts from the company. We ask for your understanding that we cannot provide any further information against the background of the ongoing investigation,”

According too Reuters, Lufthansa and federal police declined to comment. Frankfurt police were not immediately available for comment.

 

More unrest

The same flight scheduled for Friday has since been canceled. The discovery of the lifeless body comes after much unrest in Iran after the death of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old woman who was detained and died in police custody for ‘improper attire’.
