As businesses across the country prepare for mandatory shutdowns and restrictions, many restaurants are wondering what to do with the excess food they have on hand.  There are now several eateries offering free meals or significant discounts to help those within their community struggling to feed themselves and their families. Here is a list of a few of those restaurants.

Pittsburgh, PA

Baked True North is launching brunch boxes filled with six English muffins, six scones, 12 small cookies, and 12 unfrosted cookies with various purchasing options. The buy-one-give-one will allow customers to purchase two boxes, one for themselves and one for someone in need.

Derry, NH

Rigatony’s Italian Take Out is offering buy one, get one free on $25 gift certificates. They are also giving away a loaf of bread with their soups and free mashed potatoes with a pot pie purchase.

New York, NY

Quality Branded food group, which owns Don Angie, Quality Meats, and Smith & Wollensky steakhouse, will donate its perishable foods to City Harvest charity in response to the outbreak.

Asheville, NC

White Duck Taco in Asheville posted on social media that they will be giving K-12 public school students one free regular taco a day Monday through Friday.

Tampa, FL

Mother’s is now offering free food deliveries for all families in the Westchase area. The restaurant’s meal delivery service will offer large portions suited to feed families – or at least three to five people.

Cedar Rapids, IA

The owners of Granite City in Cedar Rapids will be making about 150 sandwiches and chips for kids whose only meal might have been in school.
