Nashville is home to historic buildings and unique boutique hotels like The Russell boutique hotel in East Nashville. Through their Rooms for Rooms program, one-weekend stay at their hotel is equivalent to 16 nights in a bed, 100 free showers, and 30 free meals for the homeless.
Constructed as a church in 1904, this historic building with beautifully restored stained glass windows was an influential piece of Nashville’s history and served as a space of refuge and safety in the community. The church was converted into a temporary hospital to care for people during Nashville’s Influenza epidemic in 1918. The outbreak heavily impacted the town of Old Hickory, killing over 1,300.
The Russell houses 23 unique rooms designed to inspire every guest with creativity with a modern twist and splashes color and fully equipped podcast studio in the lobby.
Local designers meticulously curated the hotel’s design to conserves some of the buildings original architecture. They maintained the original windows, brick walls, and headboards constructed from the church pews, maintaining the historic ambiance detailing.
