Seychelles is an archipelago of 115 islands and a country of its own. One of the smallest countries in the world, it’s largest islands, Mahé, Praslin and La Digue, is located about 1,000 miles east of Kenya and about 700 miles northeast of Madagascar. Many of the islands are not inhabited, created isolated paradises that feel otherworldly.
The larger islands are home to populations of mixed descent including French, Chinese, Indian, and Malaysian. Under the constitution, Creole, English, and French are recognized as national languages.

La Digue
An island with no motor vehicles, few paved roads, and unspoiled beaches, La Digue is a paradise for those looking for a quiet escape back to nature and seemingly back in time. Biking is the best way to explore the island including Anse Source D’Argent or Anse Coco beaches and Veuve Nature Reserve to search for one of the rarest birds on earth – the Seychelles Black Paradise Flycatcher.
Praslin
There is little information about the Praslin Waterfall. You won’t find much on Google and most guide books seem to leave it out. Located less than a mile from the UNESCO site Vallée De Mai, this waterfall is simply beautiful and worth the hike to have it all to yourself.

Local Food
You won’t be able to miss all of the small creole restaurants throughout the islands that offer incredible food and inexpensive prices. Eat like a local and enjoy traditional dishes of fish curries, lamb stews, savory rice, and more for less than $5 per person.
