One thing that never fails to captivate tourists visiting Taiwan is how the island’s culture, architecture, and innovation merge. This fusion becomes apparent as visitors explore the unassuming Budai Township in Chiayi County. In this township, there is a remarkable testament to ingenuity and devotion – the High Heel Church.

The High Heel Church, also known as the High Heel Wedding Church, is a striking structure inspired by the Cinderella story, designed to commemorate the role of women in society. The location is well-known for hosting weddings, and despite being referred to as a ‘church,’ the structure is not consecrated and has no religious purpose.

What to Expect

In 2016, the High Heel Church earned its place in the Guinness World Records as the world’s largest high-heel shoe-shaped structure. As a visitor, your eyes will immediately be drawn to the towering stiletto-shaped facade, standing proudly at more than 55 feet tall. The church’s exterior, with its saturated hues and elaborate embellishments, gives off an impression of quirky appeal that begs you to go inside.

The park’s grounds provide ample space for strolls, picnics, and Instagram-worthy photoshoots. The High Heel Church’s interior is a peaceful sanctuary with gorgeous stained glass windows, chandeliers, and significant artworks. The warm glow of natural light shining through the windows creates an ethereal atmosphere ideal for quiet reflection and contemplation.

The main worship room is in the toe and features a massive screen at the tip, with an outside stage built into the collar. The High Heel Church’s primary function is to host weddings and photo shoots. The church’s interior also has over a hundred attractive amenities for women, such as loveseat benches, cakes and biscuits, and decorations made of maple leaves.
