From jet skiing and underwater cave exploration to ATV desert rides and sky diving, adventure is at the forefront of many millennials’ travel plans.

There are endless possibilities for adventurous thrills when traveling. However, what’s available depends on where you’re visiting. If you’re a thrill seeker looking for the adrenaline rush of your life, here are some of the top adventure destinations for millennials in 2023.

Zanzibar

Zanzibar comes in at the top of this list because there is no better place to explore the safari than Tanzania. Located on the coast of Tanzania, Zanzibar has plenty of adventures and thrills, especially for wildlife lovers. Once you’ve finished seeing animals while driving through the Serengeti, you can grab a bike and cycle through the countryside. There are chimpanzees and more animals to see on wildlife preserves and you can even climb to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro for a stunning view of Africa. Watersports are also popular here so don’t be afraid to try out scuba diving, sailing, and snorkeling.

Costa Rica

The original home of ziplining and canopy tours, Costa Rica is an untapped wonder full of adventure and wildlife. You don’t want to miss out on a chance to go kayaking in Costa Rica. Other travelers suggest checking out zodiac tours and touring the cloud forest. While you’re exploring Costa Rica, be sure to keep your eyes open for animals everywhere. At first glance, Canada doesn’t sound like a place to go if you’re looking for adventure. However, that is an incorrect assumption. Each province has its own distinct culture and adventure that satisfies thrill seekers from all over the world. You’ll find polar bears, wolves, and mooses running amuck in Manitoba and kayaking and whale watching in Churchill. For world-class skiing, head over to Alberta for fun in the snow. You can also hike through Jasper National Park and visit North America’s largest glacier, the Athabasca glacier. Round out your Canada experience by visiting Nova Scotia for some fun in the water with jet skiing, rafting, and boat tours.

Queenstown, New Zealand

Queenstown is the perfect destination for thrill-seeking millennials. There’s literally adventure awaiting all year long. If you ever find yourself in New Zealand during the winter, stop by Queenstown for skiing and snowboarding in the Southern Alps. Headed there on summer break? Then this is a great destination for bungee jumping, backpacking, camping, and white water rafting.

Thailand

Adventurous travelers can’t get enough of Thailand. The country has an excellent balance of thrills and relaxation so it’s an ideal destination for many types of travelers. If you’re looking for bigger-than-life adventures, consider going rock climbing in Southern Thailand, jungle trekking, or even mountain biking through the hills. For the more chill adventurers, you can also take a motorcycle tour through the mountains and catch a glimpse of hill tribes in their villages. Hiking is also extremely popular in Thailand and another great way to see the country.

Peru

Peru is bursting at the seams with adventure and thrills. When you’ve finished exploring ancient ruins like Machu Pichu, lace up your hiking boots for a trek along the Inca Trail and Sacred Valley. Peru has incredible waves perfect for surfing off the coast and paragliding in Lima. Perhaps the most adventurous experience waiting for travelers in Peru is a chance to explore the Amazon River. The world’s largest river, the Amazon holds many hidden secrets, strange wildlife, and thrills. A seemingly unlikely destination for adventure, Peru is a thrill-seeker’s dream come to life.

There’s plenty to see and do in Mexico. It’s a huge city with each city offering its own unique culture, experience, and adventure. Mexico is hands down one of the best destinations for scuba diving. Travelers gravitate toward places like Palancar Reef, where you can get a look at some marine life in its natural habitat. Many travelers visit Mexico solely to kayak the Baja Peninsula. Others come for rock climbing, hang gliding, and diving near Tulum. Whatever you’re into, Mexico is sure to serve up a plate of adventure no matter which city you’re visiting.

Galapagos

There’s no place on earth like the Galapagos Islands. Another adventure destination with a ton of wildlife, the islands are home to many animals that are native to Galapagos. There are gigantic tortoises here, playful sea lions, and sharks you can swim with uncaged. The islands are a perfect place for watersports, jungle hikes, and even active volcano explorations near Isabella Island.
